Ignacio Cruz-Mendoza, a 47-year-old Mexican national, was accused last week of crashing a semi-truck that caused the death of one person and caused another person serious injury. ICE said on Monday that the man had either been deported to or voluntarily returned to Mexico at least 16 times in the past, Denver7 reported .
Mendoza, who initially faced vehicular homicide charges, now faces one count of careless driving resulting in death and three counts of careless driving resulting in injury, according to the Denver Post. The illegal immigrant is currently detained on a $50,000 bail in Jefferson County Jail.
