A Missouri police officer was killed by a suspect authorities believe to be an illegal alien on Sunday, Sept. 22.
St. Louis Metropolitan Police officer David Lee died after being hit by a car on I-70 while responding to a separate incident along the interstate.
The driver of the vehicle, Ramon Chavez-Rodriguez, was reportedly intoxicated at the time and driving without a license. He was also travelling at 18mph over the 55mph speed limit when he lost control of the car, according to a court affidavit.
Chavez-Rodriguez, who lives locally, “does not have legal status in the United States” as per the SLMPD’s probable cause statement. He has been charged with DWI – death of law enforcement or emergency personnel, exceeding posted speed limit, and operating a vehicle on a highway without a valid license, and will remain in jail without bond.
